FMP - Research
In the past week I have done substantial research on famous novels with a series of mind maps. Then moving on to look at the history of book covers and the techniques.
The history of penguin books has been an important start to the research of design of book covers so that's where I started moving on to look at my favourite book covers historically famous and my own personal favourites then finding the designers of those covers and there other artworks
Then to finish I researched book sizes and paper sizes that books are produced and published and contacting paper companies and asking for paper sampling books

After lots of deliberation and deciding I have decided that my idea is that I will be redesigning book covers for famous series of novels
Today I have researched into famous novels and book series to focus my ideas Onto a very good positive to this FMP.

Higher Education
Higher Education
On Wednesday 6th of November we all reviewed what our potential places of choice for a form of higher education.
We attended a talk from UAL Universities of Arts of London about there campuses Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon this talk went on for around an hour and a half with a range of specialized information on the Fine Arts courses and Photography courses etc.
However the course information for the graphic design courses was very limited and didn't give a real insight on what the actual courses are like and also it didn't show the facilities that any of the campuses provided so i was disappointed with this.
We also went over the HND campus at canterbury college where I currently study and reviewed the different Higher National Diploma courses, the tutor gave a wide variety on each of the courses telling us what the courses supply the costs the equipment everything I was very impressed and this has made this option very appealing to me lowing that i could live at home keep my part time job and continue as normal whilst studying this course so this is a serious choice for me.

Good Website Design Analysis
Website Analysis
On this post i will be examining and analysing what a good website design looks like and what that includes.
Here is an example of one of my favourite websites that I visit daily. The reason I chose this website is because I like the high quality simplicity and minimalism used for this website.
They have used a very elegant and beautiful serif typeface for the title and sub headings then a very basic sans serif typeface for the normal text.
The incredible quality photos that instantly impress the viewer and makes them want to see more as soon as they open the website.
Even the normal parts of a website that we all hate have not been over emphasised such as joining Facebook/twitter logos and search bars which is another reason I love this webpage.
http://www.felixlaflamme.com
Here is another of my favourite websites that has been created by a famous graphic designer and illustrator called Felix Laflamme.
His website has a very light illustration of his own as a background but then that doesn't overshadow his own work which is displayed in multiple areas on the page. The page includes a very grungy dark logo to represent him as a designer and the page itself which I like, also this page uses very simplified logos for the twitter and facebook logos which appeals to me also.

Finally this is another website I visit daily the reason I like this website and decide to indulge in it daily is because of the simplicity and minimalism once again. The use of very simple logos for Facebook and twitter and a good simple header on the page with the use of an inventive typeface.
